Campus Compact of Oregon Organizational Equity

Our Equity Statement

As an organization, we owe it to ourselves and our partners and the communities that we collaborate with, to strive for the utmost integrity. With this, we must seek to dismantle harmful systems that perpetuate hate, xenophobia, and ignorance and work to center those most impacted by institutional, systemic, and interpersonal oppression: Black, Indigenous and People of Color, LGBTQAI2+ people, immigrants and refugees, low-income people, people with disabilities.

About this Statement

Picture
As an organization, we shifted our mission to focus explicitly on racial equity in 2016. For the past couple of years, we at Campus Compact of Oregon have turned our critical gaze inwards to our internal structures and processes, asking ourselves the question: Are we walking our talk? Through intentional and meaningful engagement with this question, we initiated our Organizational Racial Equity Roadmap, and we are happy to report that we have come quite far along our path.

The following statement is a living document. This initial version was created by all of the Campus Compact of Oregon Staff during the winter and spring of 2020 and will be revisited each year and with new staff and members. Our process this year has included 4 simple steps:
  • Opening up a shared document
  • Brainstorming ideas
  • Reviewing the brainstorm and adding comments, suggestions, questions, revisions
  • Working through each brainstorm point and comment as a collective, allowing space for all voices to be heard and each perspective acknowledged on each point before moving forward
