Campus Compact of Oregon Programs
Campus Compact of Oregon is the only statewide organization working with private, public, four-year, and two-year institutions of higher education, and the only regional or state Compact welcoming K12 schools and education nonprofits as members. We embrace our unique position to strengthen educational equity in Oregon through a focus on racial justice, community engaged learning, and college and K12 partnership. Take a look at how we do this through our programs.
AmeriCorps
Campus Compact of Oregon currently operates four AmeriCorps programs: an AmeriCorps VISTA program, Summer VISTA, and our state/national projects Connect2Complete and Equitably Pathways Bridge Program. All Campus Compact of Oregon programs are committed to promoting racial equity and social justice, and eliminating inequities that exist in Oregon in postsecondary access and success for students of color and first generation students. National service members are placed at colleges, universities, K12 schools, or education nonprofits and work with a supervisor at this host site. Each of our programs achieve this mission in a slightly different way.
REACH Initiative
REACH is Campus Compact of Oregon's strategic initiative intended to build a statewide coalition and movement for racial justice in higher education across college and high school in Oregon. REACH seeks to decrease Oregon's educational disparities in access and success through intervention at the institutional level. Interventions allow educational institutions to address inequities produced by their systems by improving equity practices, promoting culturally-grounded and appropriate college-K12 partnerships, and fostering belonging and wholeness for faculty, students, and staff. Participants in all activities associated with REACH will be empowered with the knowledge, network, and support to be leaders for racial equity within their institutions. REACH encompasses our consulting, training and technical assistance services; the Presidential Summit, and historically the Equity Action Teams and ELSEE (Executive Learning Series for Equity and Empowerment) program. Campus Compact of Oregon supports Oregon's legislative HB 2864.
Civic and Community Engagement
MLK Day is an annual event facilitated by Campus Compact of Oregon and our partners to honor and celebrate Dr. King's legacy. Out of our annual event came the Racial Justice Campus Collaborative (RJCC) and newly structured teach-in events. To support further learning and engagement, we have piloted the Counter Narrative Series, led by Carmen Denison at Portland State University's University Studies Program.
