Summer Programs
All Campus Compact of Oregon programs are committed to promoting racial equity and social justice, and eliminating inequities that exist in Oregon in postsecondary access and success for students of color and first generation students. AmeriCorps members are placed at colleges, universities, K12 schools, or education nonprofits and work with a supervisor at these host sites. Each of our programs achieve this mission in a slightly different way.
Summer VISTA
Summer VISTA with Campus Compact is a partnership with Ninth Grade Counts, members serve full time for eight weeks from June-August, with either a community organization or school district to prepare students for a successful transition into the next grade level and prevent summer learning loss. Summer VISTAs may develop lesson plans and activities for students, serve directly with rising 9th graders as tutors or assistant teachers, help with outreach to parents or guardians of students, recruit and train community volunteers, and more.
