Picture

Hollis is a licensed social worker with a service background in AmeriCorps, special education, nonprofit leadership, nonprofit board service, and higher learning (student affairs and teaching). He earned his BA in Behavioral Sciences with an emphasis in sociology and his Master of Social Work degree with an emphasis in leadership within communities and organizations. He eventually will pursue his Doctor of Education degree in organizational leadership. His “forever homes” are San Jose, California and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the places he is from.
His most recent roles were Interim Director at the Portland State Queer Resource Center and Deputy Director of Equity and Inclusion at Cascade AIDS Project. His proudest organizing moments occurred within these positions as chief organizer of the annual Queer Students of Color Conference (2019, 2020, 2021) and founding the Nonprofit BIPOC Employee Leadership and Mentorship Summit (2024). There is a legacy of racial justice in his family, including that of his great-grandfather, Hollis. In Milwaukee during the early 1900s, he founded the chapter of the NAACP, was an executive board member of the Urban League, and was president of the National Negro Business League (now called the National Business League).
