Program Description
AmeriCorps*VISTA is a full-time national service program intended to develop lasting solutions to the problems of poverty in America. AmeriCorps*VISTA members build the capacity of non-profit organizations to meet the needs low-income individuals in their communities.

The Summer VISTA Program
In the Summer of 2009, Oregon Campus Compact and the Portland Schools Foundation joined together to address the high school completion rate in Multnomah County, Oregon by connecting Summer AmeriCorps VISTA Members with Ninth Grade Counts programs and projects. The Summer of 2010 the program will continue make 9th Grade Count!

The Full-Time Program
Oregon Campus Compact VISTAs develop service-learning programs, build relationships and partnerships between their institution and the surrounding community, implement campus-wide service days, coordinate programs that engage students in community service, and increase the level of civic engagement on their campuses. Established in 2007 through a partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service, the ORCC VISTA program enables colleges and universities to address issues facing low-income communities through high quality service-learning and community service programs that empower students to be change agents in their communities.
