Tonya Jones (she/her/hers) was born in Arkansas, but was raised in Portland, OR. She attended Portland State University. Tonya received her undergraduate degree in women's studies. She later earned a graduate degree in adult education with a focus on service-learning. In 2012, Tonya got the opportunity to take an international service-learning course in Madurai, India. The purpose of the trip was to learn about the role of women in India and participate in community service activities. She enjoys reading, writing, and traveling. Tonya founded the Women of Color Zine Workshops, and lead them for five years. She organized Portland's first women of color zine symposium. Tonya is the proud single mom of an energetic toddler. Her vision for a successful team this year includes mutual respect, open communication, and self-care practices.
