Summer VISTA

The Summer VISTA program began in the summer of 2009 when Campus Compact and All Hands Raised (then known as the Portland Schools Foundation), joined together to address the low high school completion rate in Multnomah County, Oregon where just 65% of students graduate high school on time. Find out more information about Summer VISTA in our FAQ.

Program Goals
  • Provide college students with meaningful positions to acquire professional experience, leadership skills, and to make an impact the community.
  • Increase college students' professional networks by connecting them with school districts and community organizations in Multnomah County.
  • Leverage college students' passion for education to support and prepare at-risk ninth graders to transition into high school.
  • Increase Multnomah County's high school graduation rate and inspire ninth graders to believe they're college material.
  • Build the capacity of the summer programs to support students' academic achievement.
