student advisory board

Student Advisory Board ORCC's Student Advisory Board (SAB) convenes a team of students, who have each been nominated by their schools as outstanding leaders, and provides them with additional leadership experience to move beyond their campus and make a powerful statewide impact.

Apply for the 2013-2014 Board!
  • Applications are now open to serve on the 2013-2014 Board! Please click here to apply. We are looking for 1-3 students to represent each of ORCC's Member Campuses.
  • Learn more about the advisory board's plans for 2013-2014, here.
Student Advisory Board Goals
  • Advise: Board Members will provide input and guidance on ORCC's programming.
  • Engage: Students will spread the word about great opportunities to serve, lead, or advocate around important community issues statewide. Particularly, board members will recruit their peers to participate in the events and programs they help plan.
  • Lead: Board Members will also take on leadership roles in the initiatives they plan and recruit for by serving as presenters, project leaders, and facilitators.
  • Benefits: Students will have the opportunity to collaborate and network with top student leaders from other campuses, leverage their community leadership skills for statewide initiatives, develop significant professional board experience, and receive post-college support (referrals, references, job search assistance, etc) from ORCC staff and alumni.

I think historically, college students haven’t been given enough credit for our capabilities. As scholars we are in a unique position to be critical of the world around us and to take action to be leaders. I truly hope that as a member I can help to empower other college students to serve and lead.”
– Student Advisory Board Member from Lewis & Clark College, 2012-2013
ORCC has given me the opportunity to broaden my understanding of how a college student like myself can serve and impact my community."
– Student Advisory Board Member from George Fox University, 2012-2013
