What is OR HB 2864?
In 2017, HB2864 was passed by the State of Oregon, with leadership from State Representative Teresa Alonso Leon. This bill requires each community college and public university to establish process for recommending, and providing oversight for implementation of, cultural competency standards for institution and institution's employees. Lists requirements that process established by institution must satisfy.
Campus Compact of Oregon can support with implementation of HB 2864 by providing training and development opportunities to foster the ability of faculty, staff, and admin to meet cultural competency standards as defined by the house bill. We can also provide consultation for institution-wide goals that seek to improve the cultural inclusion climate for students, faculty, staff, and admin from diverse backgrounds.
