Organizational Equity at Campus Compact of Oregon
First and foremost, Campus Compact of Oregon would like to thank you for being a part of our beloved community. Together, we form an intentional network of care for our Oregon communities. By providing access to valuable resources and committing to power-sharing and social accountability, we strive to lift the voices and center the bodies of those most impacted and harmed by structural inequities. This work is critical because we understand that systems that harm marginalized communities most acutely, degrade our society as a whole. Toward this end, we understand that that justice, particularly racial justice, serves us all.
As an organization, we shifted our mission to focus explicitly on racial equity in 2016. For the past couple of years, we at Campus Compact of Oregon have turned our critical gaze inwards to our internal structures and processes, asking ourselves the question: Are we walking our talk? Through intentional and meaningful engagement with this question, we initiated our Organizational Racial Equity Roadmap, and we are happy to report that we have come quite far along our path.
These pages outline and demonstrate the very intentional work we have engaged in over the past couple of years as we’ve sought to walk the path of our Roadmap. As a community we are thrilled to introduce our *newly minted* Organizational Equity Statement, that really outlines the way that we as a staff are constantly striving toward equity in the way we approach, engage in and respond to our work.
Currently, we are facing a global pandemic that will no doubt change our society as a whole, and with that, our educational system. With this shift looming large, the importance of community is highlighted as we recognize the resources we have in each other. We hope that, as our partners in this work, you—our membership—will walk alongside us in this journey. With this, we must lean into each other for support and guidance in order to stay strong as a network for the continued benefit of the communities we serve and are a part of.
