CAC Service Phase

Goal: On average, each CAC member will recruit and train 10 college access coaches (usually college students) to provide college access interventions to approx. 100 economically disadvantaged 4th -12th grade youth that improve at least 70% of served youth's attitudes toward their academic engagement.

College Access Corps Program Framework Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain already-established partnerships with middle schools, high schools, college departments, and/or local community non-profits, depending on program focus.
  2. Market/recruit, train, and retain college access coaches. Don't forget to create and file a list of your coach's names, for program audit review.
  3. Coordinate CAC program with your partnership school or non-profit.
  4. Track the number of hours of college access intervention activities each ED 4th-12th grade youth receives using the CAC College Access Intervention Spreadsheet or similar. Remember that your program must be able to prove that each individual member had at least 15 hours of intervention, and that you should keep a hard copy and digital copy for program audit review.
  5. Coordinate Assessment efforts that demonstrate program impacts. Be sure to file all assessment sheets both physically and digitally, for audit reviews.
  6. Recruit volunteers (including mentors, mentees, students, faculty, and staff) to participate in at least three National Days of Service: Make a Difference Day, MLK Jr. Day, and AmeriCorps Week. Use CAC Volunteer Sign-in Sheets and CAC Volunteers Recruited Tracking Sheet to track your volunteers, and file both sheets for program audit review.
  7. CAC members are required to keep a program file as both a hard copy and digital version of six folders, each one of which should contain the following information:
    1. List of coach's names
    2. College Access Intervention Spreadsheet
    3. CAC Volunteers Recruited Tracking Spreadsheet (with attached CAC Volunteer Sign-in Sheets)
    4. CAC Assessment Tally Spreadsheet and CAC Retrospective Tally Spreadsheets
    5. Post-Program/Retrospective Surveys (completed hard copied)
    6. CAC Pre-Program Surveys (completed hard copies)
  8. The six folders should be labeled in a way that clearly indicates:
    1. The name of the Actual Spreadsheet or Tally Sheet (ex. CAC Pre-Program Surveys)
    2. The name of the Campus Program (ex. WWUBridges)/CAC 2017-18
  9. These folders will be collected by your CAC Program Supervisor upon completion of the Member's service and the folders will be archived for future CNCS audit.
Other program responsibilities:
  • Submit timesheets online by the 1st and 15th day of each month (CAC Member Timesheet Video Tutorial)
  • Meet with your site supervisor at least weekly
  • Collaborate with other CAC members and reflection group members where possible
  • Complete a Sustainability Plan/Binder by the end of your service
