Akshay Hariprasad

Akshay Hariprasad (they/them/theirs), serves as a VISTA Leader and supports community engagement for VISTA programs. Being a first-generation Indian American, they bring a transnational and culturally-hybrid lens to the racial justice mission of Campus Compact. They hold a B.A. in Anthropology from Reed College, and are currently enrolled in an Alexander Technique Teacher Certification program through the Contemporary Alexander School. Akshay brings years of study in somatics -- in particular it’s relationship to personal and relational transformation -- to support members, develop resiliency-centered programming, and shift organizational culture.
Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, they have spent the last few years getting involved in BIPOC and queer communities, especially those focused on healing, wellness, outdoor education, embodiment and movement, spiritual practice, and social justice. Their varied interests are bound together by a desire for and work towards liberation.
