Program Description

AmeriCorps*VISTA is a national service program intended to develop lasting solutions to the problems of poverty in America.  AmeriCorps*VISTA members build the capacity of non-profit organizations to meet the needs low-income individuals in their communities.

March 1     ORCC Summer VISTA Host Site RFP Distributed to Ninth Grade Counts Sites by Portland Schools Foundation.

April 2     Host Site Proposals due to Nate Waas Shull, Portland Schools Foundation

Apr 16      Host Site Decisions released

April 26/27     Summer Associate Recruitment Fairs at Portland State

May 12      Site Supervisor Orientation

May 24, June 7, June 21     Summer Associate Starts (Required Pre-Service Orientation on the Friday before)

June 21     Full Team Meeting (Required of all Summer Associates)

July 21     Full Team Meeting (Required of all Summer Associates)

August 20     Summer Association Graduation Celebration (site supervisors are encouraged to attend)

The Summer Associates program lasts 10 weeks (70 days).
