ORCC Civic Engagement Awards - April 18, 2008

Oregon Campus Compact (ORCC) is pleased to announce the third annual statewide Oregon Campus Compact Civic Engagement Awards. ORCC will present awards to undergraduate students, faculty, and staff of ORCC member institutions, as well as their community partners, in recognition of their leadership and service to their community.

 

Student Awards

The Faith Gabelnick Student Leadership Award will be presented to a student in the state who has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities on his/her campus and in the community. The recipient will be acknowledged at the awards dinner and receive a monetary award of $200, half of which is to be donated to a nonprofit agency of their choice.   The recipient for this award will be selected from the pool of statewide finalists – one per member institution - by an Awards Selection Committee. In addition, the recipient will be submitted as a candidate for the National Campus Compact Howard L. Swearer Student Humanitarian Award.

The ORCC Leadership through Service Award will recognize the finalist from each ORCC member institution whose name will be forwarded for consideration for the Faith Gabelnick Student Leadership Award.

The ORCC Community Caring Award will recognize every student who completes an application.

Faculty Awards

The Judith Ramaley Faculty Award for Service-Learning will be presented to a faculty who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and vision in promoting community service within their teaching and scholarship. The recipient for this award will be selected from the pool of statewide finalists – one per member institution – by an Awards Selection Committee. The recipient will receive a monetary award of $200.   All finalists will also be acknowledged at the awards dinner.

 

Community Partner Awards

The Dan Moriarty Community Partner Award will be awarded to a community partner who has demonstrated a sustained commitment to educating students for lifelong citizenship. The recipient for this award will be selected from the pool of statewide finalists – one per member institution - by an Awards Selection Committee. The community partner will be acknowledged at the awards dinner.
